A meeting with Canadian Embassy’s delegates on the implementation of the project “Vietnam Skills for Employment Project” (VSEP).

On April 15th, 2014, Vietnam Association of Community Colleges held a meeting with Canadian Embassy’s delegates on the implementation of the project “Vietnam Skills for Employment Project” (VSEP).Participating in the meeting, there are Mr. Garett Pratt, Mrs. Brenda Cooke and Mrs. Suzanne Taschereau - the representatives of Canadian Embassy. On the side of VACC, there are Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh - President of VACC and other members of VACC.
Opening up the meeting, Mr. Pham Tiet Khanh - VACC President introduced the members of VACC and the main functions, advantages and VACC’s long term strategic vision as well. Mr. Khanh expressed his desire for developing the Community College model in Vietnam. He emphasized that the members of VACC also want to build the model in Vietnam and to learn from the Canadian colleagues on how to manage this model in their country. In order to clarify how the Community College model is running in Vietnam, Mr. Pham Tiet Khanh introduced the Co-operative Education Program between Tra Vinh University and My Lan Group, a tremendously successful university-enterprise collaboration program in Vietnam.
Mr. Garett Pratt - Advance Development Staff - Embassy of Canada stated that VACC leaders and VSEP Project management Board share the vision and perspectives on community education and how important it is to the social development; also consider VACC as a significant partner of the project.
During the meeting, Mrs. Brenda Cooke - VSEP Local Director in Ho Chi Minh city – Agriteam gave some essential introductions about VSEP project. The project has two main objectives, the first one is to enhance management capacity for the project’s participants’ leaders in Technical and Vocational Training, the other one is to improve the ability to create training program in order to meet social and local demand for labour market, with attention to promote gender equality. The project will run mainly in three provinces such as Binh Thuan, Hau Giang and Vinh Long.
Mrs. Suzanne Taschereau - Project Director - Agriteam said that she wants to share, get to know more about the vision and the future plans of VACC in the project to implement the project activities that VACC can take responses or participates.
The project executive staffs want to make a visit to Tra Vinh University to know more intensively about the successful application of community college model in Vietnam, so that they can consult and offer guidance’s for the project’s future activities. Also they want to organize a meeting with all the VACC’s members and leaders to learn about the training activities of the members.
VACC standing committee agreed with the partners’ proposals and stated that they were looking forward to approaching and learning about the Canadian management methods and developing the community college in Vietnam. The meeting ended successfully; here are some pictures of it.
