VACC’s International Workshop on the Action Science of Getting ‘Unstuck’

On February 14, 2025, the Vietnam Association of Community Colleges (VACC) successfully hosted a workshop titled “The Science of Getting ‘Unstuck’: Empowering Educators and Leaders for Transformation.” The event featured Dr. Darren Hannah, an expert in Organizational Development and Learning from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, as the keynote speaker.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Pham Quang Huy, Rector of Dong Thap Community College and a Standing Committee member of VACC, emphasized the necessity of evolving mindsets, enhancing work efficiency, and personal development in the continually innovating field of vocational education. He expressed gratitude to Dr. Darren Hannah for his participation and insightful contributions to the workshop.

Throughout the event, Dr. Hannah introduced scientific approaches to overcoming professional challenges by understanding the interplay between personal beliefs and the surrounding social environment. He presented methodologies such as Self-in-Field Action Research, Problem-Based Methodology, and Open-to-Learning Conversations. These strategies are designed to encourage individuals to reflect on their thoughts, emotions, and actions in relation to their environment.

The hybrid workshop attracted over 40 international delegates from VACC-partnered institutions, such as Southern Leyte State University and the College of New Caledonia, along with over 80 representatives from VACC’s member institutions and colleges across Vietnam. The workshop received enthusiastic participation from delegates, who provided positive feedback regarding the program’s practicality, depth, and academic value. Attendees noted that the seminar not only delivered valuable knowledge but also served as a powerful inspiration, encouraging innovative thinking and creative action. These responses underscore the seminar’s significance and Dr. Hannah’s substantial contribution.

This successful event highlights VACC’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge knowledge and transformative learning experiences to Vietnam’s educational community. We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Darren Hannah for his invaluable contribution and look forward to future collaborations that will continue to empower educators and leaders toward growth and success.
