VACC-CATD Host Seminar on Enhancing Quality Assurance in Vocational Education

On June 16th 2025, CATD – the accreditation centre of the Vietnam Association of Community Colleges (VACC), hosted a highly engaging and insightful seminar on enhancing quality assurance in vocational education.

The event featured Ms. Ha Ngo, Co-convenor of the Adult & Higher Education Special Interest Group of the New Zealand Association of Research in Education (NZARE), and former officer with the Quality Assurance Division of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). Representatives from the VACC-CATD side included Ms. Nguyen Huyen Chau, Chief of Office at VACC; Mr. Can Tien Dung, Deputy Director of CATD; as well as officers from the VACC-CATD.

In her talk, Ms. Ha Ngo presented key lessons from New Zealand’s vocational education and training (VET) system, emphasizing the roles of policy-making agencies, funding bodies, regulatory authorities, and workforce development councils (WDCs) in ensuring high-quality vocational education outcomes. She also introduced the structure of New Zealand’s non-university tertiary education system and its strong focus on stakeholder collaboration.

Mr. Can Tien Dung, Deputy Director of CATD, expressed CATD’s aspiration to internationalize Vietnam’s vocational education quality assurance system by learning from international experts and partnering with global agencies such as NZQA and professional bodies driven by employers—like those in New Zealand. He also emphasized CATD’s team of experienced, open-minded assessors, who are eager to share their expertise and contribute to improving vocational education quality in Vietnam.

Following this engaging dialogue, VACC looks forward to deepening connections with relevant partners in New Zealand and around the world.
