Workshop on Career Readiness with Insights from an International Expert

On July 18, 2025, the Vietnam Association of Community Colleges (VACC) successfully held a hybrid workshop titled “Career Readiness: Insights from an International Expert” at Phu Tho Medical College. The keynote speaker was Dr. Thi Thu Hien Nguyen, Senior Clinical Researcher at Aalborg University Hospital (Denmark) and Director of the MedNet Health Network under AVSE Global.

Dr. Hien Nguyen holds a bachelor’s degree in Genetics from the College of Science, Vietnam National University (2002) and a PhD in Microbial Biotechnology from Aalborg University, Denmark. She currently leads clinical research at the Department of Molecular Diagnostics and brings to the workshop not only deep scientific expertise but also insightful teaching experience using problem-based learning approaches.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Nguyen Quang An, Rector of Phu Tho Medical College, emphasized that in today’s rapidly evolving socio-economic context, the labour market demands not only professional competence but also adaptability, critical thinking, and clear career orientation. He expressed his gratitude to VACC and Dr. Hien for bringing a meaningful and timely program to the college’s students.

Throughout the session, lecturers and students engaged with Dr. Hien’s in-depth, practical, and inspiring perspectives on personal development and career orientation in the context of globalization and a constantly shifting labour market. Dr. Hien highlighted the importance of lifelong learning, open-mindedness, and adaptability, and encouraged students to start building clear career pathways while still in school.

Drawing from her own international study, work, and research experiences, Dr. Hien conveyed powerful messages about aspiration, resilience, and the value of connecting with professional communities. Her stories helped students better understand emerging career trends and inspired them to pursue their goals with confidence, ambition, and action.
